   Quiero advertir primero que este objetivo suele estar en rebajas muy a menudo, así que os recomiendo que vigiléis el precio antes de lanzaros.La lente en sí poco os puedo decir que no se haya dicho ya. Yo venía de un Tokina 11-16 en APSC de Nikon (16.5 – 24 equivalente) y este Zuiko 7-14 (14-28 equivalente) f2.8 lo mejora en todo: mayor rango focal (tanto por arriba como por abajo), mejor construcción, sellado, tamaño, peso… En cuanto a nitidez un poquito mejor el zuiko; pero ojo, no es el mejor objetivo PRO del sistema Olympus en este aspecto.No digo que sea malo, pero no llega al nivel de nitidez del 40-150 f2.8 por ejemplo. Corrige muy bien las aberraciones e imperfecciones por software (las hace la propia cámara); lo que desconozco es si esto funciona también así en cuerpos de otras marcas (yo tengo una OMD EM1-Mark III); juraría que no, así que tocaría hacerlo en Lightroom o con el software que uses.Nunca he tenido la oportunidad de probar el equivalente GM de Sony, y posiblemente sea superior; pero al final comparas precios (a mí me salió en oferta por 781€ enviado y gestionado por.es) y te das cuenta de que realmente no necesitas más.Un aspecto que no me gusta es que no se le pueden poner filtros de rosca. Si quieres algo aún más luminoso tienes el Laowa 7.5mm f2.0 a un precio mágnifico, ideal para nocturnas; aunque es totalmente manual.

   Extra für eine Polarlichtschiffsreise hatte ich mir ein lichtstarkes WW-Objektiv zulegen wollen. Letztendlich habe ich mich für das Oly 7-14 mm 2.8 pro entschieden, weil es meinem vorhandenen Brennweitenbereich sinnvoll ergänzt. Dachte ich zumindest.Verarbeitung und Abbildungsleistung des Objektivs sind ohne Tadel und knüpfen an das sehr gute 12-40 pro an. Bzgl. Größe und Gewicht ist es durchaus mit seinem Brennweitengeschwister vergleichbar. Wer mit dessen Größe und Gewicht zu Recht kommt, hat auch mit diesem diesbezüglich kein Problem. Auch Bedienung bzgl Focus, Zoom und lFn-Taste sind identisch. Das Objektiv ist wertig gebaut und macht einen sehr soliden und robusten Eindruck. Bzgl. Optischer Qualität kann ich die anderen positiven Rezensionen nur bestätigen und verweise auf diese.So richtig glücklich gemacht hat es mich dann aber doch nicht. Das lag an zwei Punkten.Da Nachts der Autofokus ohne helle Bereiche im Motiv nicht funktioniert muss manuell scharf gestellt werden. In meiner Situation war das dann einfach der Unendlichbereich. Ich dachte an meine Nikon-Objektive, drehte den Fokusring bis zum Anschlag und legte los. Nach einigen Bildern und einer zu späten ersten Kontrolle musste ich feststellen, dass alle unbrauchbar waren, weil sie über den gesamten Bildbereich unscharf waren. Ein Blick auf die aufgedruckte Skala hätte es mir verraten, Aber im Dunkeln ist sie nicht zu sehen und zudem kommt es da auf mm an. Das merkt man, wenn man bei Licht mit der Lupe scharfstellt. Und so habe ich dann auch den Unendlichbereich gefunden. Ich habe mir von meinem Standpunkt aus auf dem Schiff in ausreichender Entfernung ein ausreichend helles Motiv gesucht und mittels Lupe scharf gestellt. Ich musste dieses Prozedere dann jeden Abend wiederholen. Es ist mir schleierhaft, warum der Anschlag des Fokusringes nicht gleich der Unendlicheinstellung ist. Gut also, wenn man es denn weiß. Für dieses Problem gibt es ja dann zumindest in den meisten Fällen eine wenn auch lästige Umgehung.Beim Folgenden ist das leider nicht so. Ein echtes Problem zeigte sich dann auf den ersten Polarlicht-Bildern. Lichtreflexionen im Brennweitenbereich < 14 mm. In der Situation war es so, dass der Vollmond seitlich hinter uns stand und bei 7- 13 mm unschöne Licht-Reflexionen erzeugte, egal, wo ich mich mit meinem Stativ hinstellte. Um diese zu vermeiden musste ich mit 14mm fotografieren und konnte so nicht den kompletten WW-Bereich des Objektivs nutzen. Identisch war das Phänomen bei einer Nachtaufnahme im Hafen zu beobachten, wo seitliches Laternen-Licht zu unschönen Flecken geführt hat.Das Objektiv ist bauartbedingt sehr anfällig für seitliche und sogar seitlich hinter einem liegende Lichtquellen. Die gewölbten Frontlinse, die zudem bei abnehmender Brennweite nach vorne geschoben wird, so dass die fest verbaute Sonnenblende Seitenlicht nicht mehr abfangen kann, wirkt wie ein Lichtstaubsauger und führt so zu unschönen Effekten.Das trübt den sonst positiven Eindruck des Objektivs deutlich. Bei dem doch stolzen Preis gebe ich daher nur drei Punkte, da ich das Objektiv nicht wie erwartet einsetzen kann. Mit diesem Wissen würde ich es auch nicht mehr erwerben.

   First of all it arrived on time and in perfect condition. I could not wait to attach it to my camera. I was amazed with the wide angle range of the lens without distortion. Price wise, it hovers in the middle of collection yet is my favourite.

   Tout a bien commencé, livraison nickel, la finition est absolument magnifique et respire vraiment la qualité de construction, pas l’ombre d’un jeu nulle part (ce qui finalement est assez rare avec les zooms, Nikon notamment), même le bouchon est très bien fait et son système d’accroche est tout à fait fiable (rien à voir avec les bouchons Fuji qui tiennent très mal) et l’encombrement pour un équivalent 14/28mm ouvrant à f2.8 est tout à fait correct….. bref enchanté.Mais ça c’est gâté dés les premières photos, à 7mm si le piqué est très bon voire même excellent au centre dés la pleine ouverture par contre les bords et les coins sont flous à f2.8 et f4 et il faut fermer le diaphragme à f5.6 pour commencer à obtenir une image homogène, excusable pour un objectif à 300/400€ mais inacceptable pour un zoom de ce tarif, à quoi bon payer aussi cher et avoir un zoom lumineux si la pleine ouverture n’est pas réellement utilisable, du coup je n’ai pas d’autre choix que de le renvoyer à, avec regret.

   Absolutely superb lens. At 7-14mm it has the 35mm/full-frame equivalent view of a 14-28mm, so is a true super wide angle zoom lens. The sharpness, even fully open at f/2.8, is incredible although there is upon close inspection an unsurprising minor amount of corner vignetting at that setting. But it effectively vanishes at f/4 and is so even that it’s easy to correct in post on those very few images where it’s an issue.Being a Micro Four-Thirds lens it’s also far less bulky and heavy than my previous superwide zoom, the amazing Sigma 8-16mm (on my APS-C dSLR that had the equivalent 35mm/full-frame view of 12-24mm). The loss of 2mm equivalent at the widest setting doesn’t sound much but does make a genuine difference, although it’s a moot point as my only wider option on M4/3 is a fisheye lens, and I hate those.As the Sigma lacked the fast aperture and was noticeably quite soft until about f/8 I can accept the slightly less wide angle of view as a fair trade-off. In contrast this lens like the other two current PRO f/2.8 lenses appears to be sharpest fully open making the fast aperture fully usable and not just a marketing gimmick.Build quality on this lens is excellent: very solid on the bits which shouldn’t move and buttery smooth on the bits which should.Again, like all the Olympus PRO lenses this has a programmable function button on the lens barrel and I’ve chosen to assign that to Keystone Compensation which is amazingly good at correcting the converging verticals inherent in all wide angle lenses (done by software only: RAW files show no correction at all).The lens has noticeable barrel distortion on RAW images at the widest angle but it’s uniform and very easy to correct in your chosen digital darkroom (I use Affinity Photo). The camera itself has full software correction of the distortion which it applies to the JPEG files. Correcting the distortion optically would have been very difficult and would have added weight and cost, whilst reducing overall IQ so leaving it as is was a wise choice by Olympus. The distortion appears to my eyes to be almost absent on RAW files at the 14mm setting. I’m certainly no digital darkroom junkie so I am happy most of the time with the JPEG images anyway (I choose to use the lowest compression and low noise reduction settings).As the front lens element protrudes this lens carries no filter thread. But there are Third Party filter manufacturers who make adapters to carry their square-format filters such as the Lee system.As with all other Olympus PRO lenses, this lens is fully weather-sealed.

   You have to ask yourself how invested in the Micro 4/3 system you are before you buy this lens. It is a really good lens. It gives good bokeh, for an Olympus lens the effective 35mm f-stop number is 5.6 (because of how the m4/3 system works compared to the full frame format). It’s sharp, and focusses quickly.Against this, it’s heavy, and pricy. If you’ve a good variety of Olympus equipment, and want a good lens to act as a 14-28mm f5.6 lens, then this is the best lens you can get. If you see your future going a little further in photography, most professional photographers I’ve seen argue there are limitations to the M4/3 format that this lens can’t overcome.

   I have had this lens for a couple of months now and highly recommend it, sure it is expensive and by far the most money I’ve ever spent on camera gear but the step up in image quality is unbelievable compared with the cheaper lenses. I have not been able to get out very far with it yet due to the Coronavirus but so far I have been really impressed with the results. I read a lot of reviews before I committed to it and there was so much talk about flare and soft areas, my advice is to ignore all that, if you are photographing test cards all day then it might be a deal breaker, in the real world it performs perfectly well. The build quality is superb with very tactile feedback from the controls, the impression is of a precision instrument which it undoubtedly is. It comes well packaged in a very smart looking box and has a nice soft case included. A point to note is at the 7mm end of the range the front element is more exposed and could be damaged if you are not paying attention, it’s not a fault as it has to come out from the lens hood to get the angle of view at 7mm. In summary another fantastic Olympus lens.

    Très bon zoom, très grand angulaire.La grande ouverture permet des photos de nuit ou en basse lumière étonnantes.Nécessite une certaine pratique des focales courtes (7mm, c’est très très court!) pour obtenir un résultat optimum.Mais à l’usage que du plaisir!Les réserves sur le piqué de certains sont infondées…Très belle et haute qualité de fabrication.
